Phyllis Hirsh Boyson received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University in 1954 and a Master of Arts degree in Education from NYU in 1955. The 6,200 books, dolls, and artifacts collected by Boyson over the course of her career as an educator were used for special programs aimed at celebrating the cultures of the country’s diverse populations with emphasis placed on African-American, Native-American, and Jewish cultures.
